SPRING FUNDRAISING DINNER & RAFFLE

The Lucky Oyster spring dinner/raffle was once again a success. Fifty-seven Museum members attended and the food was delicious. The Museum was able to raise some money thanks to those who provided baskets for the various raffles. Our next spring fund-raising dinner will be in 2012 at the New Moon Café, exact time and date TBA. Thanks to all who participated in the event.

THE GREAT MUSEUM BBQ COOK-OFF

October 15th was a beautiful day to have our BBQ Cook-off. We had a little over 60 people attending and everyone had a great time and left with full bellies and smiles on their faces.

Wiley "El Coyote" Lamm prepared his "Eastern Coastal Plain" style North Carolina BBQ. Wiley also served his most excellent version of Brunswick stew, hush puppies and cole slaw. Ira the "Kansas City King" Abbott prepared his “Kansas City Surprise BBQ", baked beans and cole slaw and Bev’s “highly requested” blueberry salad. At the end of the evening the votes were cast and not to our surprise was a very close race, so close some people voted for BOTH! In the end, Wiley “El Coyote” Lamm was pronounced the winner!

The ladies of the Museum did not want to be outdone by these two highly competitive contestants and made sure a nice variety of their famous “gourmet cupcakes” were available to cleanse the pallets of the BBQ tasters.

The “cook off” was a fund raiser for us and we also had several raffles which included: “Lucky Dog” that was filled with lottery scratch-off tickets, several beautiful decoys by Gentry Childress, one of Bev Abbott’s paintings and a lovely basket created by Alice Walsh.

A big thank you goes out to all who helped with this from cooking, obtaining beverages & raffle items, set-up and take down. We are now looking forward to next fall’s fund raiser.
