Back Bay Birding Club is a group of people interested in birding within the Back Bay Wildfowl Guild. Occasionally we get together and view birds locally or nearby areas of Virginia and North Carolina. We offer visitors to the Museum information about local birding “hotspots” and have a notebook with some of our sightings in past outings.
Some of the bird club members have been participating in a “bird survey” for Red Wing Lake Golf Course. The golf course and the City of Virginia Beach in conjunction with Audubon International are attempting to make the course more environmentally friendly and part of this process involves a wildlife survey. As of May 2010, nine months into our survey we have identified 121 bird species.
